Feb. 4, 2008: Sanatoga Writer Marks 20 Years As SPJ Member SANATOGA, PA - A Sanatoga-based editor, writer and photographer has been recognized by the national Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) for his membership of 20 years in that organization, which promotes freedom of information initiatives and ethical conduct in news reporting. Joseph M. “Joe” Zlomek, of North Sanatoga Road, is a freelance author and managing editor of Career Education Media Ventures. Zlomek began work in the news business in 1977, and has since served as a reporter, editor, publisher or chief operating officer at almost a dozen newspapers in five states. He joined SPJ in 1988, while he was publisher and executive editor of the Terre Haute (IN) Tribune-Star. Career Education Media Ventures provides written and multimedia news content to subscribing publishers. In the past year, Zlomek's articles and photographs were published in the United States, Norway, the United Kingdom, Croatia, Brazil, Finland, Canada, France, India, Italy, New Zealand, Germany, Spain, Malaysia, Denmark and Australia. Zlomek was the 1981 International Award Winner for News Photography presented by the International Association of Firefighters.
