May 31, 2008: Exeter Family Diner

Story and Photo By Joe Zlomek

Exeter Family Restaurant, 4800 Perkiomen Ave, Reading, PA 19606
(610) 370-5131
Cross Streets: Between Benjamin Franklin Hwy and Gibraltar Rd

Just as its name implies, this is an unpretentious, family oriented sit-down place to eat on the east side of Reading PA. Food is acceptable and made to order. We've eaten here on three occasions; quality can be uneven. Menu is sufficiently varied. Prices tend to the high side on some items. Wait staff friendly but slow. Small area available for smokers. Decor is stainless-steel diner kitsch. When last visited (May 31, 2008) part of the dining room was being renovated and expanded. Breakfast for two was $11.25, or $5.60 per person. We would recommend, and would return.
